A quarterly Los Angeles High School Screening Program featuring the “Best” of Telluride Film Festival, managed by UCLA-TFT students and with the participation of selected filmmakers and faculty.
This quarterly program aims to increase diversity in the industry by promoting a college-going culture and a love of the cinematic arts for diverse high school audiences.
Participating inner city Los Angeles-based High Schools will have the opportunity to expand personal and professional horizons through a specialized film screening program, operated by UCLA/TFT graduate film students on the UCLA Campus. High School students will participate in a day-long program on the UCLA campus that includes a film screening, discussions with filmmaking talent (producers, directors, writers, actors), special break-out mentoring sessions and contribute to an on-going “manifesto” that builds on their experience within the program.
Students learn how films are created, critiqued, how stories are developed, and how to express oneself through a variety of creative media. This aspirational program helps young talent get a vision for their lives and a sense of the opportunities that are possible for their futures. Furthermore, this program helps to open young students’ minds to new experiences and viewpoints, and how to set tangible goals for a college education and future careers.
